چکیده

The polarization of inclusive J/$\psi$ and $\Upsilon(1{\rm S})$ produced in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV the LHC is measured with ALICE detector. study carried out by reconstructing quarkonium through its decay to muon pairs rapidity region $2.5<y<4$ measuring polar azimuthal angular distributions muons. parameters $\lambda_{\theta}$, $\lambda_{\phi}$ $\lambda_{\theta\phi}$ are helicity Collins-Soper reference frames, transverse momentum interval $2<p_{\rm T}<10$ GeV/$c$ $p_{\rm T}<15$ for S})$, respectively. found be compatible zero, within a maximum about two standard deviations low T}$, both frames over whole T}$ range. values compared corresponding results obtained pp $\sqrt{s}=7$ 8 similar kinematic LHCb experiments. Although much larger uncertainties, production also consistent zero.

Quarkonium Production at the LHC

More than 30 years after the discovery of the J/ψ, its production mechanism is still poorly understood. With the LHC data it will be possible to study quarkonia up to very high transverse momenta and with high statistics. In this note we discuss experimental aspects of J/ψ and Υ(1S) production at the LHC. In particular, we investigate the sensitivity of a general purpose LHC detector to observa...

First measurement of the ρ spectral function in nuclear collisions

The NA60 experiment at the CERN SPS has studied low-mass muon pairs in 158 AGeV InIn collisions. A strong excess of pairs is observed above the yield expected from neutral meson decays. The unprecedented sample size close to 400K events and the good mass resolution of about 2% made it possible to isolate the excess by subtraction of the decay sources. The shape of the resulting mass spectrum sh...

Perspectives for inclusive quarkonium production in photon-photon collisions at the LHC

In a few months the LHC will start operating and provide physicists with a tremendous amount of new experimental information on the fundamental particles and their interactions. In this context, much is expected from the LHC to elucidate the still ill-understood quarkonium production mechanism (see [1,2,3] for recent reviews). This is of particular importance in view of the possible suppression...

Suppression of Quarkonium Production in Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC and LHC

A model for the production of quarkonium states in the midrapidity region at RHIC and LHC energy range is presented which explores well understood properties of QCD only. An increase of the quarkonium hadronisation time with the initial energy leads to a gradual change of the most important phenomena from fixed targetto collider-energies. We evaluate nuclear effects in the quarkonium production...

Heavy Quark and Quarkonium Transport in High Energy Nuclear Collisions

The strong interaction between heavy quarks and the quark gluon plasma makes the open and hidden charm hadrons be sensitive probes of the deconfinement phase transition in high energy nuclear collisions. Both the cold and hot nuclear matter effects change with the colliding energy and significantly influence the heavy quark and charmonium yield and their transverse momentum distributions. The r...
